***The best GAME-MUSIC for SPECTRUM/TIMEX 48Kb??????***
A contest by MISTER BEEP (2006).
NOW IT'S OVER BUT YOU STILL CAN VOTE IF YOU WANT.
FROM TIME TO TIME I'LL UPDATE THE RESULTS.
This archive contains the RULES.TXT file, RESULTS.XLS and HTML file, AY-EMUL and *.YM files with game-musix.
It's downloadable here:
http://republika.pl/mister_beep/48contes.zip
The idea was to vote for *the best BEEPER music* from Spectrum/Timex games.
There was a number of *.AY files containing songs from 48Kb games in this ZIP archive. Various music-engines, various numbers of channels, various envelopes, samples sometimes...
You can find many great composers here, like Tim Follin, Special Erase, David Whittaker and also superb tunes with unknown authors (what a pity!).
People was able to give from 100 points to 0 points (songs that people didn't like at all were skipped) for the tunes.
You can listen to songs using AY-EMUL (included in the ZIP archive). But note that several *.AY files contain not only BEEPER but also AY songs, and additionally sometimes (mostly?) the AY songs are at the beginning of the *.AY playlist - so if you hear that the music is AY song, not BEEPER, you have to press FORWARD to find BEEPER songs (often they are at the end of the playlist).
But the most convenient way is:
1) start AY-EMUL,
2) press PL button (on the right hand side) - it's a PLAYLIST. Here you will see where the required BEEPER/48Kb song is, and can simply choose it using the mouse. When you load the next *.AY file, the playlist will update instantly, so simply
3) watch the playlist all the time.
It would be the easiest way.
Many games had not only one, but several songs, so people was able to vote for all BEEPER songs from one game of course.
They wrote in their points and sent the completed votesheet to
[email protected]
Note that sometimes the author is unknown (sadly).
If you know some great song not listed here - just add it simply.
